The patriarchy’s presence in most religious establishments is often carried without regard to the sustaining labor of caretakers with less visible roles of participating in expressions of spirituality. Regardless of regard, all acts of spirituality are foundational to the communities whole, so the arch stands, weak but in faith. Exposing the infrastructure supporting an arch is intended to remind a viewer of the strength and endurance that are not immediately acknowledged by the controls of these establishments as well as the crippling effects of oppressive institutions.
